Dental Crowns in NW Calgary, AB

Dental crowns are often referred to as “dental caps.” These restorations typically cover the teeth they are treating. Schedule a consultation with a dentist near you if you think you may benefit from dental crowns.

Understanding Dental Crowns in NW Calgary

Dental Crowns may be the ideal treatment option when previous fillings have broken and continuing to add another filling will create a large unstable filling, teeth that are fractured or chipped or if the teeth experience a lot of sensitivity. Crowns can also be done to improve the esthetics especially in cases where the teeth may be malformed, malpositioned or discolored. Following root canal treatment teeth can be become more brittle and so dental crowns Calgary are an ideal way to help protect and strengthen the teeth for better lifespan of the tooth.

Dental crowns can be made from various materials, both tooth-colored and metal. These materials can include porcelain, Zirconia based porcelain, porcelain-fused-to-metal, and full-cast metal. If you need a dental crown, our dentist in Calgary will complete a comprehensive assessment to determine what the best material would be. This assessment includes looking at numerous factors such as esthetics, where your tooth is positioned, whether there are extra forces being placed on the teeth from habits such as grinding, and finally, your personal preference.

With our team approach to your dental health, our dentist in NW Calgary will always work with our patients to present them with all the viable options and to explain the pros and cons of each treatment and/or materials. In the end, this material is going in your mouth, and we want you to feel comfortable and educated about your treatment!
